John [Johannes] Bedyngham [Bedingham, Bodigham]

English composer, represented in the Trent Codices. From 144(8) a member of the Confraternity of St. Nicholas (London). From 145(7), verger of the Collegiate Chapel of St. Stephen (Westminster).His chansons in the Burgundian style of Dufay were popular throughout Europe.

His Mass Deuil angoisseus, on a chanson by Binchois, shows the beginning of parody technique, and is noted for treating all three voices of its model to very free variation, bioth melodic and rhythmic.
