Guillaume Legrant

(fl. 1419-46)

French composer. He was a Papal singer in 1419, and was working in Rouen in 1446. His Mass movements, composed in the 1420s, are among the earliest compositions to distinguish between solo and choral vocal sections; they use a highly distinctive chromatic manner which did not find favor with other composers. His chansons are in a plain and straightforward Burgundian style.
