Nicolo Burci

(ca. 1450 - ?)

Italian music-theorist. Burci was appointed a Deacon of the Church in 1472, and later studied Canon Law at Bologna. In 1487, he published his Musices opusculum which is one of the earliest printed works on the theory of music. This book is also significant in that it contains some of the earliest attempts at music-printing, and the first example of music printed from wooden blocks.
