Cornelius Canis [de Hondt, d'Hondt]

Franco-flemish composer. Master of choirboys and later maitre de chapelleat the court of Emperor Charles V in Brussels from no later than 1542 until about 1555. From 1557 held posts in churches in Courtrai. Died while serving Emperor Ferdinand I. Extant works include two Masses, about thirty motets, and about thirty French chansons in both the Parisian and Franco-Flemish styles.
