Antonius de Civitate

(? - after 1523)

Italian composer and Dominican monk. Some of his surviving compositions (three Mass movements, five motets and five secular pieces) are dated 1422 or 1423. He adopted the rhythmically simple, melodious style favored by Franco-Flemish composers of the early fifteenth century, and was one of the few Italian composers of his generation known to have written an isorhythmic: motet (for a wedding in 1423).
