Ihan (Jehan) Gero

(fl.1541-56)

Franco-Flemish composer. He worked in Italy and was highly esteemed as a madrigalist. As well as his own five volumes of madrigals and pieces in anthologies, he wrote all but two of the madrigals in the collection published by Costanzo Festa in 1541; his work is notable for skilful manipulation of rhythms and use of word painting.
