Franco-Flemish composer. From 1525 perhaps a choirboy at Arras Cathedral; later held posts at the cathedrals of Tours and Toumai, returning to Arras as a canon by 1556; in Madrid from 1559 led Philip II's Flemish chapel and perhaps also his Spanish chapel. His compositions include about twenty Masses; over sixty motets; nine Psalms; a Magnificat; and over fifty chansons, the majority Flemish but a few Parisian in style.
