Rene (Renatus) del Mel

(ca. 1555 - after July 1597)


Franco-Flemish composer. Maestro de capilla at the Lisbon court from 1572-80, and then worked in Rome (where he knew Palestrina) and various other Italian cities. He published twelve volumes of madrigaletti and spiritual madrigals, and five of motets in up to twelve parts.
