François de Layolle

(1492 - c.1540)

French composer, brought up in Florence; a pupil of Bartolomeo degli Organi, he worked as a singer and organist at the church of SS. Annunziata until 1518. By 1521 he had settled as organist at the Florentine church in Lyons, but his madrigals are distinctively Italian in style. He also wrote church music; his work was published in Moderne's anthologies.
