Matteo Rampollini

(1497 - 1553)

Italian composer. Possibly a pupil of Isaac. He taught music (1515), was maestro di cappella at Florence cathedral in alternation with Verdelot (1520-4) and was later chaplain at the Medici chapel of S. Lorenzo in Florence (1530-4). He contributed music to the festivities for the wedding of the Duke Cosimo and Eleanor of Toledo in 1539, and published one of the earliest collections of madrigal cycles to canzonas by Petrarch.
