Giovanni Antonio Terzi

(fl. 1593-9)

Italian lutenist, of whose life nothing is known. His two-volume Intavolatura (1593, 1599) is chiefly notable for its miniature variation suites, consisting of passamezzo and gagliarda, each in several sections with each section based on the same chord progressions; there is a gradual diminution of note values. The volumes also contain fantasias and transcriptions of vocal pieces.
