Lestocart

French composer, born in Noyon, Picardy. A prizewinner at the Évreux composition contest in 1584, he traveled much in Italy and Switzerland, worked briefly at the ducal court in Nancy, and was in the service of the Abbot of Valmont. He set both Protestant and Catholic translations of the psalms, and also published motets and sacred chansons; his style is strongly influenced by the Italian madrigal.
