John Atkins

(? - 1670)

English composer who achieved a pleasing effect in a few songs. Eleven of twelve are found in the Drexel MS in the New York Public Library, suggesting a close relationship between scribe and composer. None of his songs were printed under his own name, though Playford published one attributed to William Lawes and one to John Wilson
