English draper, bookseller, printer and publisher. Located at New gate Market and Gracechurch (Gratious, Gracious) Street, near Leaden-Hall (against St Peter's Church). He issued a number of musical works from 1596 or earlier, some from ca. 1598 as the assigne of Thomas Morley. Some of Barley's publications were printede by John Windet, Thomas Este, and Thomas Snodham as the assignes of William Barley. Music publisher 1596-1614. Publications include A new booke of tabliture (1596); Pathway to Musicke (1596); The Whole Booke of Psalms (1599); Songs of mourning (1613).
