English musician. Appointed Gentleman of the Chapel Royal in 1582 replacing Robert Moorecocke. Clerk of the Cheque of the Chapel Royal 1593-1604. Note that he cannot be, as has been suggested, identical with the Edmund Browne who is reported to have participated in the Merchant Taylor's Hall (London) Feast in 1607, since his death is recorded on April 27, 1606.
