John [Johannes] Hothby [Ottobi]

English composer and music scholar. A Carmelite friar and teacher of William Worcester. 1435-3u: Lecturer at Oxford University from 1435. 1440-86: Travelled in Europe from 1440 through 1486, teaching at Lucca, Italy, from 1468 through 1486. In 1487 he was recalled by King Henry VII.
