[John] Taylere (Tailer)

(fl. 16th Century)

English composer. Master of the Singing Boys of St Anthony's Hospital (London). Master of the Children of Westminster College Grammar School. Possibly the same as John Taylor, 'master of the singing children' of the hospital of St. Mary's, Woolnoth, in 1557, and between 1561-1569, master of 'the children of the grammar schoole in the colledge of Westminster.' He was also organist of Westminster Abbey. Composed a Pavan (and doubtless the following Galliard) in the Dublin Virginal Manuscript. Possibly related (father?) to Robert Taylor or Robert Tailour.
