Gregorio Strozzi

(ca. 1615 - after 1687)

Ital;ian composer. He studied with Giovanni Maria Sabino in Naples and became second organist at SS. Annunziata, Naples, in 1634. In 1645 he was appointed a chaplain in Amalfi. After 1655 be became a doctor of canon and civil law at the University of Naples. He wrote a collection of choral works for Holy Week, and the Capricci da sonare(Naples, 1687), which contains twenty-nine pieces for harpsichord or organ.
