Domenico Massenzio

(? - c1650)

Italian composer and priest. A pupil of G. F. Anerio and Agazzari, he held various musical and ecclesiastical posts in Rome, including those of singer in the Cappella Giulia (1610-14) and maestro di cappella to the Jesuit Congregazione dei Nobili from 1612. He published five volumes of tuneful small-scale motets, and eight of psalms in up to eight parts, in which he makes effective use of varied voice-groupings.
