Werner Fabricius

(1633 - 1679)

Organist and composer. Studied with Selle and Scheidemann in Hamburg; later attended the University of Leipzig, eventually practicing law there and serving as organist at the Nicolaikirche and director of music at the Paulinerkirche. Works include instrumental suites, sacred songs for 2-8 voices, and organ preludes, as well as writings on organ building and realizing figured bass.
