English composer. Gentleman of the Chapel Royal and Master of the Child Choristers of the Chapel Royal after Thomas Day 1638-42. Music teacher in London in the 1650s. His learned canon O pray for the peace of Jerusalem appeared in the 1652 edition of Catch That Catch Can. (See Catches and Glees.) Also contributed works to the loose Papers thrown before the Old Jewry Music Club that comprise an interesting compendium of the popular partsong repertory during the Commonwealth and early Restoration period.
