James Paisible

(1656? - 1721)

Composer and recorder and oboe player born in France. Resident in England by 1674, he served at court and in the band at Drury Lane Theatre. He had a high reputation as a player, and wrote mainly instrumental music, much of it for the theatre. His wife was the singer Mary Davis.
