Charles Dollé

(16??(?) - 17??)

French viol player and composer of the generation following Marin Marais. Virtually nothing is known of his life. He is referred to in one source as a "Maître de Viole", but appears never to have been associated with the Court. The only other information we have about him is that he published six works: four in 1737, including the opus 2, Pièces de viole avec la basse continue, in 1749 the Opus 5: Three suites of eight pieces , and in 1754 Opus 6.
