Carl Theodorus [Charles Theodore] Pachelbel

(1690 - 1750)



German organist, born in Stuttgart, died in Charleston, South Carolina. Younger son of Johann Pachelbel. He emigrated to Boston in the 1730s, becoming organist at churches in Newport, R.I., and Charleston, S.C.; gave two concerts in New York in 1736. His only known composition is an eight-part Magnificat composed before he left Germany.
