Antonio de Salazar [Zalazar]

(ca. 1650 - 1715)

Composer. After serving as a prebendary in Seville, he traveled to Mexico and was appointed maestro de capillaof Puebla Cathedral on July 11, 1679. He was appointed maestro de capillaof Mexico City Cathedral on September 3, 1688. Apparently highly regarded as a composer of villancicosand chanzonetas,he also wrote Magnificats, hymns, and responsories among other sacred choral works.
