Gallus Dressler

(1533 - 1580x89)

German composer. A Protestant, he worked in Jena, Magdeburg and Zerbst as ecclesiastic and schoolmaster, and wrote musical textbooks as well as composing many motets, German songs, and Latin and German psalm settings. These show the influence of Lassus and Clemens, whose music he also used for many examples in his textbooks.
