Hernando de Cabezón

(1541 - 1602)

Spanish composer and organist. He succeeeded his father Antonio de Cabezón as organist to Philip II in 1556. In 1578 he published Obras de Musica para tecla, arpa y vihuela. As the title implies these were for keyboard, harp and/or vihuela rather than specifically for organ. The volume contains both liturgical and secular pieces together with sets of variations and song intabulations.
