English organist who held cathedral organist's posts in England (including at Winchester) before becoming organist of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, in 1698, a post he held through 1719, when he was succeeded by his son, Ralph, and St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, through his death, when he was again succeeded by Ralph. His other organist son, Thomas, left Ireland for Italy in 1709, and had settled in London by 1718.
